My thoughts on this: I probably feel inspired by her apartment because the flea-market feel overal is what I like myself, it's like you build your interior, it has a history, where everything is carefully chosen. Also, second hand stores have a nice look and feel, and is less expensive! You can feel it has had a life of its own. Though I don't read a lot, There's always stuff lying around, just as in every "artists" place :), but not too much of course! I recently moved, so I'm still working on the coziness and putting stuff together in my studio. Also light is always important! I'm going to try to work on indirect light and vintage artifacts that get some attention. As you can see in her apartment has been thought about. A nice detail: The shelf in the first picture in the top-right on the chauffage. Self-fabricated, with indirect light and books of course, to win space probably.

In short: Carries apartment has all the elements I like about interior-design I like put together, you almost don't notice it's set-up for the series, it's almost as someone lives their for real, with her own style :) It's the closest a series has come to my own style yet I think.

The chosen color of this closet is also nice. Not too dark, not too clean, but still neutral.

It's not too big, realistic for a New York cozy apartment.

The way it's organized is clean-but still in the open. Not hidden. So it doesn't become too clean. With a nice dark wood-finish and floor on a light background.

Ps: what I also like, are the frameworks, as if they are all hand-picked and then put together. Some are put on the closets, as if she creates her own style, way, didn't have time, liked, know how to hang them. Makes it less clishé and even more flea-market alike, but in a positive way.

Also the chair, isn't that Aidens? It has a story behind it. "like!" :D The striped chair makes it less boring. And still there's place left for her laptop everywhere, so she can write wherever she feels like at that moment. That I would do too.

The bathroom is OK. Still because of the metal it reminds me of a very old style. Nice that you can see all the female touches. But I would've chosen for a little wood in here or a darker touch for the finishes. It almost becomes an old psychiatric institution-feeling like in the movies, or a hospital, if you know what I mean. And not the domestic spheres. The detailes I love though. Like the plug that's left in. The female brushes, the towel over the bath. As if it's realy been used.

As you can see, the interior evolves to more clean and stylized. I find that ok, cause it still hase more or less the look and feel, only more modern. With the lamp as an eye-catcher. Also both lamps are different. And the frameworks are used as thought-about artwork by itself (also a big eye-catcher). The rest is less messy, you don't see any books lying around anymore. It's almost growing to less and less lived-in. But still cozy, stylish and her mark with details, so it doesn't fully loses it soul.

I like much less, it's nice, but to stylized for me. It has grown to fully stylized, with no Carrie-soul-references anymore, where is the flea-market spirit? Where are the frameworks? The different furnitures that aren't the same but still fit together? The new colder designs everywhere in the world, are losing their soul I think. It's too clean for me. What I like though is the wood-finishes, still the indirect lights, but still too modernized. Ok you see obviously Carrie and mr. Big compromised to live together, darker wood for him, light for her. But it just doesn't work together for me. There is no spark between the 2 wardrobes. As if it's 2 different catalogues, put together without the chemistry between the furniture? Also there is too much space for only 2 persons/ let alone.

The rounded-corner table is also cool, with the books on it, but that would seem strange in real-life to me. I wouldn't do that. Also the modern art painting, it's just yellow, where is the soul? the work?

The worked-in closet on the last picture though is nice.

Also the chairs, everything fits together as if it's from a catalogue, as I said before, there is no chemistry between the furnitures I think.

This in contrary, I like a lot, a special wall-paper, and an eye-catcher old-style writing table, small, optical not too big, fits the colours of the room, open as you can see with a nice mahony-finish color. Small, yet cosy.

As you can see in the picture below, they wanted to make the new movie even more full of sense of style, glamour, but it took the Carrie-feel of flea-market style away. Much to resplendent wallpaper for example, moders "retro" lamps, that obviously aren't realy retro :)

Thanks for reading my spontanious thoughts on the Sex and the City interiors. I didn't mean to offend anyone in any way. I just searched for some pictures for the interiors and impulsivly felt like writing about them. I know Sex and the City has so many different styles to talk about and more then these first-hand pictures. So if you would like to suggest more and show them, don't hesitate. Same for your own opinions, tips, ideas!

I discovered this magazine in Belgium, it's called "webdesigner", in another city I noticed they also sell the English version, (more expensive due to import).
It's full of great info and tutorials for (wannabe) (web)designers!

I just activated and then cancelled hosting-services on 1&1... Not that they are bad or anything, I didn't even use it. I always used free hosting services and avoided the spam one way or another. And then I got my own hosting spot as a present from someone @ Godaddy.com, it was so slow I got annoyed and started to search for a faster service, when I ordered that one, I realised, I forgot the years of fun of free internet. That one thing I like the most about the net is keeping it free of charge and finding tips and tricks to still make it seem beautiful and yours. Also, it's the content that counts, I don't think people mind that I'm blogging the Art on a free blogging-atmosphere. Paying 23euros for form and not content, is not what I'd like to do... I will get my message through, for myself, for you, without paying for it, makes it more fun!
